Born Joseph Ali Jr, Jorilla was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, an area notorious for crime. However Jorilla was born to a family of music enthusiasts; according to Jo, “my father’s DNA ensured that music would flow through my veins.” It wouldn’t be long before Jorilla noticed he had a special passion for creating music, he would begin writing raps while in elementary school.
Soon his entire community would recognize his talent. Not only is he an extraordinary rap artist, but he has also written pop, r&b and even reggaeton songs. Although he can be versatile, Jorilla has made it clear that “his heart beats for hip hop”. “
In 2009, he selflessly donated a kidney to a family member, showcasing his compassionate nature. Nicknamed the “Waymaker,” Jorilla‘s passion for helping others and paving the way for fellow artists is unparalleled.
Recently Jorilla even collaborated with legendary hip hop artists Cassidy, Jadakiss, Styles P and Chicago’s Bo Deal!
