1) How did growing up in Compton influence your musical style?

Compton has always been thought of as gritty, grimy and a whole city of mass deaths, I put only everything that I’ve seen into my music!!!

2) Tell us a little bit about your debut single. What was it like working with Snoop Dogg?

My single “NO NO” is a conviction of society and heart felt stimulation and brings
you right to the front seat of real conversation. Snoop Dogg has always been a real dude and I don’t look at him like I would be star struck, we are from the same cloth, I’m from Compton, he’s from Long Beach. Snoop is a motivator from where we come from, he will always be real to me regardless. Snoop came in and blessed my second single “FEEL ON YOUR BOOTY” and it wasn’t free, I paid him like it should be done

3) What influenced you to launch Gorilla Hustle Ent with EKJ Entertainment llc? Tell us more about your companies.

Gorilla Hustle was founded by CEO Dee Wade, also from Compton in 2004, us linking up was going to happen regardless because he always stayed 10 toes down and never expected anything less than greatness, and I wanted to be great, plus get away from the old mentality. Dee Wade bettered my thought process and brought my negative energy into positive every day. Linking up with EKJ Entertainment has been a blessing with CEO Suave Churchill at the front of connecting the dots, I asked him to manage me two years ago and he kept it real, this dude told me if he couldn’t give me 110% he rather not get involved because his plate was full, but told me to give him two years and we’ll make it happen, I was like to myself “TWO YEARS” but he kept his word and now look at us, you don’t find solid dudes like that in this industry. So he introduced me to his business partner and CFO Kenneth Hall then the magic started happening

4) Who are some artists you are listening to right now and why?

Wow! So many but in today’s industry, Da Baby, Lil Baby, the entire all Money In camp, Pop Smoke rest in peace, D Smoke, shit, so many of the new and young, it’s hard to get them all in, but I love music from every coast, but what I listen to on a daily, of course Compton R.E.G, Busta Rymes, Kendrick Lamar, Jaquees, K Camp, Chill (Compton Most Wanted) Mykestro, Megan Tha Stallion, Snoop Dogg, H.E.R, Larrance Dopson (1500 or Nothing) Kokane, Mifly, and of course the late great Nipsey Hussle, he stays on auto-pilot, Nip and I also did a couple of joints together FYI

5) How did 2020 challenge you and what did you do to overcome those challenges?

2020 has not been any different then last year besides this Covid-19, which made it a lot easier for the independent artist, bless those that were infected but this gave us an opportunity to measure up with the major artist, they’re not doing shows, we’re not doing shows, so pretty much the playing field is even for those that understands. But it has made me more motivated and to have no excuse

6) Tell us a bit about your creative process. What inspires you to write?

I medicate heavy off that green leaf lol, listen to what is playing on the radio and then crank up the volume on the beat that I’m going to write to

7) Where do you hope to see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?

I’m going to make it simple, OWNERSHIP!!!! I’m not doing this for the gold chains, fancy cars, I’m building generational wealth for my seeds future, own land, several businesses, leave a legacy, this world is fucked up! So my off spring will be prepared and keep it going for there off spring. And most definitely ride with my Compton Conrad’s to build across the country from both sides of the fence. Before I go, I wanna shout me out, my team at Gorilla Hustle, EKJ, my family, and the city of COMPTON!!! You can find me @regcompton on IG, ekjent.com and don’t forget to pre-order and stream my new single NO NO! on all digital outlets and platforms, yall stay blessed
