What is your name and what city do you rep?
My name is Remy Prosper and I rep Miami FL 305 til I die!
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
My latest EP “Supernova” was inspired by my love for dance music but also trying to do something different with it. With this project I wanted to take people on a short journey through space and time.
What is unique about you and your music?
I think what’s unique about me is that I come from a scoring/composing background which reflects in my music. I’ve been composing music in some capacity since I was about 13. I would love for people to listen to my music and know instantly when they hear it that it came from me.
What shaped your music?
This one’s tough because I have so many music influences I don’t even know where to begin. I can produce in any music style so I guess it depends on what style you ask. When it comes to Hip/Hop and R&B definitely legends like Timbaland, Pharrell, and JR Rotem.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I told myself at 17, the summer before senior year of high school, that this was what I was going to do. No matter how long it took, I would still be on this road until I made it.
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to anything and everything, I really don’t discriminate, just as long as it sounds good. There are so many different styles to learn and to pull from. Although my favorite era to listen to would be the 80’s, 90’s and the early 00’s.
What inspires you to write music?
Anything that has a catchy melody or an interesting chord progression inspires me to create. I like stuff that’s unique and that doesn’t sound like anything else.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
Well lately I’ve been on a fitness kick and have been trying to stay consistent with the gym and exercise as well as changing my diet. Physical fitness is very important because when you’re physically healthy you’ll have the energy to get a lot of things done. Which is great for my music as well because when I am feeling great physically I have more energy to create. Shout out to Daniel Melow (@Daniel__Melow) for supplying the best workout plans and helping me get into the best physical shape of my life!
Happiness to you is…
Happiness to me comes from within. It doesn’t come from money, it doesn’t come from fame, and it definitely doesn’t come from what you see on social media. Happiness comes from the peace within yourself that you’re able to find even at your lowest point. Happiness comes from finding beauty in life by staying in the present. It also comes from being grateful for everything that you have and appreciating things that you take for granted. The more grateful you are, the happier you will be.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
One thing I wish I was told when I first started was that it’s going to be a LONG road. People think that success comes easy and it looks that way a lot of the time but it doesn’t. A lot of artists you think blew up from nowhere could have been doing this for more than a decade. You need to keep your head down, stay focused and just be consistent.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I’m working on the sequel to my EP “Supernova”, as we speak and I am also producing for multiple artists. I have some other great things planned that I can’t reveal just yet but stay tuned!
Where do we find you music / music projects?
You can find me on just about ANY platform by looking up Remy Prosper, I’m the only one. I’ll be there!
Any last words for the readers?
Don’t get caught up with the stuff you see on social media these days. Spend your time outside in the REAL world!
