Marcus Auraylius aka Mave short for Maverick I am from Fairmont NC
Tell us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.
My latest release is call CAT 5 its a whirlwind of emotions with witty word play; the inspiration for the record at the time was me preparing for Hurricane season here in Orlando FL. The hook has a hint of the record Victory by Biggie and Busta Rhymes one of my favorite hiphop records and also one of my favorite Diddy 16’s
What shaped your music?
What shaped my music is my life and how certain records influnced me. From Curtis Mayfield to Marvin Gaye, Steve Wonder to Hiphop legends like Master P, Jay-z, Scarface, Talib, the list goes on Im a student of great artist with passion to be mentioned with those names when Im dead and gone.
Describe your creative process when you write new music.
My process changes depending on the music sometimes I write sometimes I dont; I cant write emotion you just have to say what you feel and feel what you say. I let the music tell me what to say or write but my goal always is to make something that sticks. I want my music played years from now not just something thats here today and gone tomorrow.
Are there any artists who inspire you?
Most defintly from Kendrick to J Cole, Saba, Mick Jenkins most importantly Big Krit. I have a record with Krit that Ive been sitting on for some years now shout to my brother Kreatev for helping make one of my favorite songs still to this day.
What’s the best advice you can give to upcoming artists?
Learn how to navigate the industry thats the most important thing you can do I wasted alot of time not knowing the ends and out of the business and dealing with ppl who had no clue of what was really going on. Im still learning to this day but I know more than i did before.

What’s next for you in 2023?
Whats Next for me this year is I want to release a record evey month this year. I would like to give an album but Im still building my base hopefully with the help of platforms like this I can do so. My next release will be featuring my son who is about to turn 8 and Im super excited for this record.
