Eddie Murphy's 'SNL' Return Delivers Highest-Rated Episode in Years

Eddie Murphy‘s seminal return to Saturday Night Live has brought the show’s ratings to a new high since two and a half years ago. This is according to “fast official” Nielsen numbers ordered by the broadcaster, which showed that episode delivered a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.921 million viewers overall in Live+Same Day.

Those numbers were the highest since the May 13, 2017 episode of SNL, hosted by Melissa McCarthy with musical guest HAIM, which earned a 2.7 rating in 18-49, with 10.382 million viewers.

The episode which also featured the appearance of stars Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Maya Rudolph, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, and Rachel Dratch.

Murphy has been getting rave reviews for his new film Dolemite Is My Name, which is currently streaming on Netflix. He is also slated to return as Prince Akeem in Coming 2 America, a sequel to his 1988 comedy Coming To America.
