Death Row Records Is Now Owned By Hasbro Toy Company

Toymaker, Hasbro has acquired Canadian studio Entertainment One, owners of Peppa Pig and PJ Masks and the Death Row Record’s catalog.

According to Rolling Stone, eOne “spent around $280 million to buy the catalog of Death Row, which had previously been forced to declare bankruptcy in 2006.”

Deadline reports the $4 Billion cash deal is set to earn the two companies about $130 million in cost synergies by 2022. In a statement, Hasbro’s CEO announced that “the acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling.”

It’s unclear how Deathrow’s projects, including major releases from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac will fit into this “family-oriented storytelling.”
