David Geffen Deletes IG after Backlash for flaunting His self-quarantine From a $590M Yacht

Founder of Geffen Records and co-founder of DreamWorks Pictures—David Geffen faced major backlash after he went to Instagram and posted photos of where he was self-quarantining at.

The billionaire made a few posts on Instagram that featured a giant yacht he owns, one that reportedly costs $590 million. On one of the photos, Geffen posted the caption “Sunset, last night,…isolated in the Grenadines avoiding the virus. I’m hoping everybody is staying safe.” From there, Geffen posted more images of his boat in the Grenadines.

Because of that post, many commented on the mogul’s actions in times of a pandemic, saying the IG post was ignorant. Meghan McCain of ’The View’ said “David Geffen is worth 8 billion dollars! For God’s sake help this country get ventilators, our health workers masks and the medical supplies they need! Or no, just stay on your f***ing yacht instagramming. This is just shameful and grotesque.”

Geffen, who is renowned for hosting celebrity guests on his yacht including Barack and Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Hanks, appeared to have deleted his Instagram page after the criticism.

The Hollywood big wig is the founder of record labels Asylum Records, Geffen Records and DGC Records as well as film studio DreamWorks.

As well as his uber expensive yacht, Geffen boasts an impressive property portfolio valued above $US100 million, including luxury homes across New York, the Hamptons, California and Beverly Hills.

He also has amassed an art collection worth $US2 billion.
