Viral Video shows College Player Body Slams Police Officer During Arrest

Eastern Kentucky University football player Michael Harris was captured on video body-slamming a police officer during an arrest. The original report from WBNS says that Harris received a “felony charge of assault and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and disorderly conduct while intoxicated.”

TMZ reports that Harris was perceived to be “intoxicated” and “did not know where he was or know anyone in the area.” What’s more, officers found pills and a digital scale in his vehicle.

Assistant Athletics Director for Communications and Branding Kevin Britton said in a statement, “EKU cannot comment further on current team status or potential disciplinary action related to a specific student-athlete due to the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).”

Harris — a top recruit who signed with Auburn out of high school — just officially transferred to EKU this month. In fact, in a press release about EKU’s Signing Day class last week, head coach Walt Wells said of Harris, “He brings size, explosiveness and speed to the inside linebacker position. He is a physical player.”
