Cardi B’s first Tiny Desk concert brings together recent material, breakthrough hits and a nine-piece backing band.
Cardi B made her Tiny Desk debut on October 19, packing eight songs into a performance released by NPR Music. The set moves between the more personal corners of her catalog and the records that turned her into a rap star.
“Hello” opens the performance before “ErrTime” takes over. “Man of Your Word” and “Be Careful” follow, bringing a more reflective stretch into a program that never stays in one mood for long.
Adam Blackstone serves as music director while playing bass and keys, joined by musicians on guitar, drums, saxophone, trumpet and additional keyboards. Two background vocalists and DJ Ray G complete the lineup credited in NPR’s account of the concert.
The second half shifts into “Up” and “AH HA,” before Cardi closes with “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It.” That sequence gives the performance a clear route from newer songs back to two defining releases from her early mainstream run.
Released just over a year after Am I the Drama?, the concert also revisits material associated with her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy. Rather than building the entire appearance around one project, the selection puts those different periods of her career into the same room.
The full performance is available through NPR Music’s official video. It gives listeners the complete set, including the transitions and band arrangements that distinguish this appearance from the studio recordings.
