Avengers: Endgame is hands down the biggest release of all-time. And if you, like me, thought Disney and Marvel would just let the Avengers rest easy now then it’s time to slap ‘Big Ol’ Idiot’ stickers on our forehead.
That’s because Avengers: Endgame will be returning to theaters next weekend with some extra scenes not seen in the original cut. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed as much in an interview with Screen Rant.
During the interview, Kevin Feige dropped the news that Endgame would be returning to theaters with some extra footage next weekend. Feige shared that the re-release is “not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”
When Avengers: Endgame dropped back in April, it broke nearly every record in the book and looked poised to smash Avatar‘s record $2.78 billion global haul. It continued trending towards that up until recently as the film has somewhat stalled at the box office. So, although Feige and Marvel will likely never say, a driving force behind this re-release is probably the last $40 million Endgame needs to get over the Avatar hump.
Avengers: Endgame is in theaters now, the extended re-release will hit theaters on June 28th.
