Amber Rose Looks Forward To Upsetting The Sexists And Supporting The Marginalized.
Amber Rose is getting ready to walk with her fellow sluts this weekend. The SlutWalk will be held on Saturday, October 6th in Los Angeles.
The model is putting energy in the promotion of the event as the date approaches, while focusing on its underlying message. Although women make up most of the attendees, Rose reminds us of the importance of men’s accountability in the matter of rape culture.
“We need to start with our boys, we need to start with our sons. We need to talk to our fathers and our uncles and really educate them that, as women, we shouldn’t have to teach other women how to be safe.”
“We should feel safe in a society where men don’t touch us inappropriately without consent. Don’t feel the need to grab us and they think that if we have something on that it’s an invitation. It’s not an invitation.”
The entertainer describes the SlutWalk as “safe place to come and be around women that have the same experience as you.” Allies can help support rape survivors with donations that will be placed towards counseling.
