LA-born artist Gusto Leimert, now based in Ohio, just dropped a trap anthem as he gears up for his forthcoming project, EVOLUTION OF THE TRAP. Gusto’s “Trap Back” is a window into Gusto Leimert’s life, as he paints a picture of what people have to do to survive in certain areas.
” It’s about life, how people live every day, is one of many ways of survival out here, being able to provide for your family and your needs,” he says. “I just got further into detail with it.”
The track echoes a lifestyle of moving fast, staying alert, and avoiding detection. Gusto slides on the beat, creating a dope charisma and energy from the anthem. The visual “Trap Back” shows a level of Gusto’s slyness and quick thinking even further, when his girl shows up halfway through the visual banging on the door, interrupting the business going on in the Trap, and not to mention scaring all the guys. Who grab their bags, guns, and packs and head to the back of the pad, right before Gusto can get rid of her, creating a humorous scene, juxtaposed to the trap house and the street-mentality Gusto has been rapping about in ‘”Trap Back,” showcasing his personality and overall day-to-day in the Trap.
“I will always come off on some smooth shit, but what I’m talking about is some sick-individual shit.”
The video channels just that, this smooth, sly style, mixed with introspective moments that Gusto Leimert reflects on, which ultimately shaped the theme and message of the video. It is evident in the video that Gusto Leimert will do whatever is necessary to not just survive but make it big. Gusto has already seen tremendous success with past hits like “Pop Off” and “I Care, featuring Yung Pinch.” So we can only imagine his next project, EVOLUTION OF THE TRAP, will be his most refined work and something that will launch him even further into stardom.
