3VAN Shows Love to Detroit G-Funk by Demonstrating His “Gank Move Flow”

Coming off of the high of the successful single NOTHING IS THE SAME, Canadian hip-hop artist 3VAN continues to feed his tight-knit fanbase through the release of the promotional track GANK MOVE FLOW – a remix of the underground single Murderer by Detroit rap duo Gank Move off of their mixtape Come Into My World.

GANK MOVE FLOW bears an instrumental that provides 3VAN with the room to demonstrate his lyrical and rhythmic expertise over simple yet driving production. While his previous work in his SOUNDS OF MY TESTIMONY, VOL I EP was reliant on catchy melodies and dreamy cloud trap-esque soundscapes, songs like GUCCI CADILLAC and OCEAN VIEW FREESTYLE were a demonstration by 3VAN of his confidence to deliver pure, unfiltered wordplay and bars. Inspired by the grimy east coast production of moguls like Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine, ‘VAN rattles off lines on this remix that exhibit his penmanship while also remaining uninhibited by maintaining the position of his faith.

“Teleportin’ // I pull running with the horses like I’m Melvin Gordon, // I pulled up tryna whip the Porsches, lookin plenty gorgeous, // Some people like a rusty chassis, they get less supportive, // When they see that you ascending, alphabetical order,” – 3VAN, GANK MOVE FLOW

“I find myself most inspired by producers who are so invested in their craft, they end up becoming their own artists,” says 3VAN in reference to Hit-Boy and The Alchemist, who sampled the track Murderer by Gank Move in their own 2024 single Gank Move, featuring verses from Hit-Boy’s father and sister, Big Hit and HitgirlLENA. Detroit has always played a vital role in hip-hop, and Gank Move emcees K.O. Kill and Young Bango released the original song in 1994, well ahead of the popular rise of Eminem, Proof, D12, Royce da 5’9” and other critically acclaimed rappers. ‘VAN has always maintained awareness of the hip-hop subcultures surrounding and existing outside of his home city of Kitchener, ON and dives into them to deepen his own knowledge and craft, stating his relationship with modern Detroit rapper and lyricist O.G. Proce$$ early in his career as a motivation to keep improving and looking into the sounds of the past to unlock his artistry.

Hip-hop fans will enjoy this sonic journey through time as 3VAN skates across this instrumental and divulges into his faith and life. While 3VAN continues to pursue commercial splashes through his work and releases under his label UNPROMOTED

SOUNDS, he intends to continue to feed prospective fans at an increased rate going forward. Current listeners can look to his most recent single NOTHING IS THE SAME for a more RnB-inspired rap track, while new fans can familiarize themselves with ‘VAN through his debut EP, SOUNDS OF MY TESTIMONY, VOL I.
