Yung Hex Releases New Album ‘Pain B4 Champagne’

Yung Hex was raised alongside his mother’s love of freestyle music, his father’s love of DJing vinyls, and the hip-hop culture that defined the streets of New York, it is no surprise that Yung Hex began rapping at an early age. He laughs, recalling that “my mother used to laugh at the rapping gestures I used to make when dad practiced his DJ mixes”. As Yung Hex grew up, he came into his own. By treating genres fluidly and maintaining relatable storylines, Yung Hex has a unique and progressive approach to the well-worn genre of Hip Hop and R&B, effortlessly weaving melodic, trap, and latin influences into his output.

‘Pain B4 Champagne’ is the culmination of Yung Hex’s talent to-date. Lyrically communicating relatable storylines of overcoming obstacles and coming out the other side better than before, Yung Hex draws from his personal hardships an effort to help others. “Pain is temporary and it’s ok to take that and rebuild yourself to make the best of every situation” Yung Hex advises. The album features fellow emerging artists who share Yung Hex’s hardships, and their collaboration has made for poignant and powerful listening.  Everything in the recording process flowed, and the album was completed in just 3 months.

In ‘Pain B4 Champagne’, you get a version of Yung Hex that seems natural and, dare I say, comfortable using various melodies. The project is powered by a very smooth, moody, and piano-heavy beat that immediately gives you the impression that he is ready to bare his soul. Throughout the album, you get to hear Hex vent about his failed relationships, but also express the wisdom he’s gained from being in those situations. Fame must really be a drug because if you also listen closely you can hear him express how he’s dealt with women in his life who have let the fame come between them.

Yung Hex doesn’t just give back with his music. As the COO of ‘Last Legacy Entertainment’, Yung Hex works to help new artists realise their full potential. He is well-known for his work with neighborhoods around Harlem and The Bronx.  From participating in volunteer work to gifting free school supplies, Yung Hex says it best himself:  “I love to give back to the people who are less fortunate than others. It’s good to see smiles on faces, knowing that I can genuinely change the mood of someone and impact them in a positive way.’

Yung Hex’s incredible wealth of experience sets him apart from the rest, cementing himself as a must-watch artist for 2021/22.
