Atlanta-based artist Young Fairo is building something special, and he’s taking his fans and supporters along with him. Describing his genre as trap-alternative-hyperpop, Young Fairo (born Dontavious Gabriel) is building his own lane— a major stride from when he first started making music just 5 years ago at 16 years old.
The artist has come a long way since then, and it’s hard to believe he is officially only 4 years into his music career. But that’s no matter. Young Fairo is excavating a space of his own, and with the July 2nd release of his new single “2020 Vision” off his upcoming project “Sip In Peace” coming later this year, we’re ready to get a taste of it.
Born in Killeen, Texas but raised in Atlanta, Young Fairo began to experiment with his craft and would-be career in high school, urged to take things to the next level by his peers. The music Young Fairo has and is putting out is the culmination of 5 years’ worth of work developing his sound and artistry. Known for his dynamism and versatility, Young Fairo’s diversity, as he says, “is endless.” Citing Ozzy Osbourne, 50 Cent, Young Thug, and Michael Jackson as his greatest musical influences, Young Fairo is looking to build not only a career and work that he’s proud of, but an entirely new realm. “I’m a Gemini, so I have split personalities. I feel like I’m 5 different artists in one,” he says. “Hip hop, pop, country, rock, and R&B. That’s what makes me different.” Having worked with the likes of Zack Slime Fr and Lil PJ, Young Fairo aims to work with Young Thug, Post Malone, Swae Lee, Lil Gotit, and Milliegolightly in the near future. To get there, Young Fairo’s first priorities involve doing the work. “Never give up and stay working,” he advises other up-and-coming artists. “Keep winning in private. Everyone don’t need to know how you coming.”
With more music and projects in the vault, supporters are brimming with anticipation for everything Young Fairo has coming next. His single “2020 Vision” and upcoming album “Sip In Peace” are what he plans will put him beside “the big leaguers”, and with his drive for constant improvement, his push for continued development, and the authentic originality he’s notorious for, we’ll want to be along for the ride.
