Westside Webb Is Here To Stay With Newest Project 'Player Games Pt. 1'

Versatile Long Beach artist Westside Webb has just dropped off his latest album, Player Games Pt. 1.

Contingent of his previous LP, Caught Up In The Webb, Player Games Pt.1 is barking heavy for a classic mixtape acclaim in the mold of Lil Wayne’s Drought series, Wiz Khalifa’s Cabin Fever, and more culturally revered staple mixtapes.

With the summer already here, Webb is bracing for an extraordinary one as the Westside music purveyor co-signed by the likes of platinum producer Sonny Digital is ready to keep our trunks blasting all day long with a flurry of ecstatic sounds.

The first track of the album released was the synth-packed track “Different Goals”, an airy single that oozes summer and feel-good vibes, Webb has been hyping the project on social media with brief episodes showcasing the creative process of the album.

“This project is called “Player Games’ Pt.1 because there will be a part 2” Westside Webb says of a series-like compilation.

“I got a beat from my boy (mellow Matt) and the beat was Called “player games” and the beat was extra smooth and player. So after I came up with the hook for the song it all hit me that this was gonna be the name of the tape series. LIFE inspired this project. Everyday hustle, struggle, and living” Webb tells Remixd Mag of the influences behind the much anticipated LP.

The “So Way Out” emcee is coasting in regal fashion. He is not asking for a seat at the table on “Membership”, knee-deep in his bag on “Don’t Trip” & “A Week of Webb”, and extravagantly vulnerable on numbers like “Players F*ck Up Too” that particularly blends the vivacious West Coast bop with an edible sample you might hear off a 2Pac record.

Webb already began the year on a flyer with his Caught In The Webb project that celebrated him differently. In his ever-forward and money-minded driven music, he delivered hits that have turned fan favorites such as Progress, Fake Hustle, Can’t Relate (featuring Blxst) and the project in its entirety mastered an emcee whose time of a mainstream notoriety is only beckoning. The records have been performing well on DSP’s as his profile begins to pull some traction on his radar.

Treating us with visuals to promote the last project, Webb now returns with Player Games Pt. 1 that will roll us into the summer in style. Curious of his personal preference of the best track of the project, the virtuosic producer turned artist – Webb confesses he is spoiled for choice but points out “Don’t Trip” as a potential pick that stands out.

“All of em LOL” he quips of his most superlative song on the project.

“They all really mean a lot to me honestly. Picking one though, probably “don’t trip”. Because it basically wraps up in a whole what Player Games is about. It talks about the whole motto of player games. How we’re playing this game called life and its a trip, but don’t trip. It gets rough, but stay down. When you true to yourself, you always gonna get what you deserve.”
