Fresh off his upcoming project Heartbreak University, SlickkLando delivers his second drop: “Throw It.” A high-energy, fast-paced anthem, the record blends real-life inspiration with fun, freedom, and movement. Whether it’s a party, a tailgate, or a pickleball match—“Throw It” was made to move.
We caught up with Lando to get the story behind the single, the vibe in the studio, and what this drop means for his catalog.
What inspired you to make “Throw It”? Was there a specific moment, vibe, or memory that sparked it?
“Man, Throw It was really inspired by life. Me and my boys always out there playing tennis, golf, football—always throwing something. That motion just felt natural, and the energy stuck. I was like, yo, this needs to be a song. I could see it—grannies getting hyped playing pickleball, college kids turning up, kids in the backyard just wildin’. It’s a fast-paced, thrill-packed anthem—real motion music.”
Did you go into the studio with this concept in mind, or did it come together while recording?
“I wanted a fun summer record from the jump. Something that gets people outside, enjoying life, throwing whatever—a ball, a vibe, stress, whatever you need to let go of. Me and my producer Ray Lennon were already cooking that day, so when I laid the hook for this one, we looked at each other like, ‘Yeah, this one’s outta here.'”
What was your mindset while writing or recording “Throw It”?
“I was in championship mode. I wasn’t just trying to make a song; I wanted to make something that had real impact. A feel-good record that lets people breathe, move, and live in the moment.”
How would you describe the sound or style of the song in your own words?
“It’s a high-energy party record. Like, college chaos energy—wild, loud, fast, and fun. The kind of song that makes people jump up and forget what they were mad about.”
Did anyone help shape the record—producer, engineer, collaborators?
“Ray Lennon—always. He’s a huge part of my sound. He helped shape this record heavy. From music theory to energy balance, he helped make sure the track hit exactly how it needed to.”
What’s the story or energy you want listeners to feel when they hear “Throw It”?
“It’s about being young and FREE. Like, throw away your doubts, regrets, drama—just turn up and live a little. It’s a college party vibe but it hits for everybody. Kids, grannies, your momma—everybody can feel this one.”
Who do you imagine playing this song? What’s the setting—a party, a car ride, a night out?
“Every setting. I see people playing this at house parties, car rides, tailgates, even at work to get through the day. Then turning it all the way up when they clock out. It’s universal energy.”
What makes “Throw It” different from your past drops? How does it elevate your catalog?
“This track is me stepping it up. The sound, the polish, the performance—it all leveled up. I’ve been working on creating premium music my fans can rely on, and Throw It shows that I’m serious about this.”
How do you plan to bring the song to life visually or socially (video, challenges, TikTok, etc.)?
“I got challenges on deck! Different Throw It themes across platforms—showing people turning up in real life. I’m really using this record to highlight my lifestyle and my people, pushing it everywhere from Reels to TikTok and back.”
What does the song title “Throw It” mean beyond the obvious? Is there a deeper message or layered meaning?
“Definitely. Throw It isn’t just physical—it’s emotional too. Throw away the pain, the stress, the negativity. It’s about choosing fun, choosing freedom, and letting yourself live.”
What kind of reaction are you hoping for from fans or first-time listeners?
“I want people to feel loose. I want you to laugh, dance, wild out—just be you. No filters, no stress, just energy and good vibes. Whether it’s your first time hearing me or your hundredth, I want you to feel like this song gets you.”
Is “Throw It” part of a bigger rollout or project we should be watching for?
“Yes—this is the second drop for my first full project Heartbreak University. It’s a whole journey through emotion, energy, and elevation. Throw It is the fun break in the middle of all that—where we forget the heartbreak for a second and just wild out.”
What’s next for you after this release—more singles, performances, or visuals?
“More everything. More singles, more visuals, live shows—I’m all in. I’ve got so much I’ve been building, and it’s finally time to unleash it all.”
If someone only knew you through “Throw It,” what would you want them to walk away thinking about SlickkLando?
“That I’m fun, wild, and real. I care about giving the youth a sound they can live with—something they can turn up to and feel safe doing it. I’m staying clean, staying true, but always bringing that fire. SlickkLando is the next wave, and Throw It is just a taste.”
With Throw It, SlickkLando continues carving out his lane—one that blends real-life energy with feel-good intention. Whether you’re throwing stress away or throwing down at a party, this track is the soundtrack to letting go. As Heartbreak University approaches, Lando is proving he’s not just building a catalog—he’s building a movement.
