The Evolution of Cole Soileau

In the vibrant music landscape of Austin, Texas, multi-instrumental artist Cole Soileau stands as a testament to resilience and artistic authenticity. Blending shoegaze rock, emo rap, and goth rock into a distinctive sound he calls “new age alternative/nugrunge,” Soileau has carved out his own unique space in the industry.

Originally from Sterlington, Louisiana, Soileau’s journey to becoming a multi-faceted artist wasn’t a straight path. His musical exploration began in his early teens, drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of sources – from video game soundtracks to iconic bands like Nirvana. This diverse palette of influences has shaped his ability to create something truly original while paying homage to the sounds that formed him.

A Symphony of Talents

What sets Soileau apart in today’s music scene is his comprehensive artistry. As a singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer, he embodies the modern independent artist who can handle every aspect of music creation. His latest release, “Ocean” featuring Mauiwowi, showcases this versatility, accompanied by an animated music video that’s garnered significant attention since its release.

His discography speaks volumes about his dedication to craft – one full-length album featuring 16 tracks, five EPs, and over 20 original singles. Collaborations with artists like Mauiwowi, Roan, KBackwoodz, Caroline Carr, and Pastel Skye have helped shape his artistic journey, while working with producers who’ve had connections to industry giants like Lil Uzi Vert and Joji has further refined his sound.

Turning Pain into Art

Behind the music lies a story of remarkable resilience. Soileau’s journey has been marked by significant personal challenges – from surviving car crashes to dealing with trauma and loss. The passing of his mother became a pivotal moment that transformed his relationship with music, turning it into both a shelter and a medium for healing.

“I think I’ve just got to get lost in this music stuff,” Soileau reflects, “and realizing that has been the biggest achievement I could ever discover.”

Looking Forward

Currently working on his second full-length album, tentatively titled “Play with Fire,” Soileau continues to push creative boundaries. The 12-track project, scheduled for release in late 2025 or early 2026, promises to be another milestone in his evolution as an artist.

His aspirations extend beyond chart success – though he wouldn’t mind it. “If I could just make enough money to travel around and sleep and eat and play music for people, that’s really the dream life right there,” he says. More importantly, he aims to build genuine connections with his audience, creating not just a fan base but a chosen family.

The Future Beckons

With dreams of collaborating with artists like EKKSTACY, WETTBRAIN, and CR1TTER, Soileau continues to set his sights high while staying true to his artistic vision. His commitment to authenticity and willingness to take creative risks position him as an artist to watch in Austin’s thriving music scene.
