Born and raised in Odessa, Teezy’s life has been marked by both loss and determination. “My cousin was a victim of gun violence and always believed I would make it my life is like a movie.”
Growing up in a house of six, Teezy took on the role of protector and provider from a young age. Watching his mother cry and navigating the pressures of street life shaped him into a strong-minded leader. “I was scared to dream where I’m from,” he explains. “But I chose music as my path out.”
With creativity and a hunger to grow, Teezy stood out by embracing both rap and musicianship. Inspired by his brother-in-law, he’s committed to pushing boundaries: writing, recording, and experimenting every step of the way.
A defining moment in his career came when late Texas legend MO3 reached out after Teezy opened for him in Odessa. “He said he wanted to work with me—but only if I ‘could go crazy’ on the track,” Teezy recalls.
Navigating the industry without a clear roadmap has been challenging. “Nobody around here knows the game,” he admits. “It’s been a free-for-all, and I’ve had to learn the business the hard way.”
But Teezy is clear-eyed about his mission: “In a few years, I see myself inspiring any small-town artist looking for a way out. My music is more than just bars—it’s a blueprint.”
“Get the Money,” dropping July 4, marks another chapter in Teezy’s commitment to motivate and elevate. The song features rising talent Himothy Chung, showcasing Teezy’s belief in collaborative impact.
“When I look in the mirror, I see what I aspire to be,” he says. “I want new hip-hop fans to discover my music and feel inspired.”
