Stream Betty Who Between You Me, Synth-pop princess Betty Who strips things back on her earnest “Between You & Me.” The 27-year-old unveiled the lead single to her self-titled album today (November 14). Due February 15, 2019, the collection will be her first LP as an independent artist.

And she commemorated the transition by going back to her roots. “I wanted ‘Between You & Me’ to come first because it felt so reminiscent of my early singer-songwriter days. When I listen to it, I imagine that 15-year-old me would love this song,” the “Taste” diva explained in a press release. A

n added bonus is that the confessional track sounds like a serious hit. Over a production courtesy of Peter Thomas, the hitmaker opens up about her confusion around a potential relationship. “It’s too crowded in this bar. We’ve been small-talking so far,” she coos. “I can’t tell if we’re friends.

You sure like to make fun of my ex. But we never get past this part.” Moving into the chorus, she makes her move. “Just between you and me I can feel something here. Wondering if you do, too,” she asks. “Why can’t we just address it? Why don’t we start undressin’, ’til there’s nothing between, nothing between, nothing between, nothing between you and me.” It is a bold move on Betty’s part.

But there is a little twist – she doesn’t actually voice any of these desires. “It’s about not being able to put into words how you feel when you’re around the person you’re singing to. It’s not a confession of love, it’s a voice in your head narrating your time with them.” Betty Who Between You Me song Stream

If that isn’t relatable content, then I don’t know what is. I’m really hoping that radio picks up on Betty’s latest because it has so much potential. Either way, fans will hopefully get a chance to hear it live when she hits the road as a supporting act on Panic! At The Disco’s Pray For The Wicked Tour in January. In the meantime, press play on the anthem below!
