With the way Sean Curtin’s most recent EP sounds, you would think that he’s been making music for decades. The three tracks, titled “Remedy,” “Fly Away” and “Breathe” collectively make up Swan Point, a collection of ideas and observations directly from Sean’s mind.
Everything only gets more impressive when you realize that he’s the main producer behind it all too.
“My release is…experimenting with unique song structures and combining different styles into a sample of my production and songwriting ability,” Sean Curtin said. “The release is less focused on being hits and more posed as an artistic statement.”
Curtin, who currently resides in Blacksburg, Virginia, cites contemporary R&B pioneers like Frank Ocean, SZA and Sampha as sonic inspirations; by combining his smooth production with introspective lyrics concerning real life affairs, Sean has created something quite special.
“The inspiration behind the release of this EP is the expression of some of the strong emotions I’ve felt from moving out of my parents’ home and finding my own way…especially coming to terms with past mistakes and dealing with difficult people,” Sean said. “Music has always made me feel understood and I hope to achieve that feeling in others through my own productions.”
If you think that Sean Curtin is taking his foot off the gas after dropping this early into the year, think again. He’s got “multiple singles” up his sleeve, he says, all of which will help lay the foundation for his musical success.
“I plan to release multiple singles throughout 2024, establishing my artistic direction and building momentum towards an album,” Sean said. “I hope to combine experimental styles with familiar textures in a captivating way.”
“Most of all, I hope to release music that people relate to,” he concluded.
