A multitalented strong force battling structures of disenfranchisement as she marks the steep ascent in the world of hip-hop, R&B, and Soul- Mone Symone is determined to challenge the odds as she aspires to make it big in the industry with her new release, ‘New Thang’.
Stories about women making a name for themselves in an industry as male dominated as the sphere of hip-hop and R&B are both heartening and inspiring. Mone Symone is one such inspiration who is quickly becoming very famous, very fast. Those who know her well often rhetorically ask: “Is there anything Mone Symone can’t do?” – and for good reason too! She is not only a singer and a songwriter, but also a very vocal civil rights activist, a rapper, a dancer, a community organizer, a businesswoman, and an investor.
Mone Symone was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, where she had a troublesome childhood growing up in a disenfranchised community. Tired of the cards she was handed by life, she decided to pursue music – things took an unexpected turn, however, when she got pregnant with a baby girl. For Mone Symone, it became a question of choosing between her passion for music or her daughter – she chose her little girl. After raising her with the help of her mother, Mone Symone went to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue her passion for music.
Despite the odds, Mone Symone successfully managed to release her new single titled ‘New Thang’. What makes her music unique is the fact that she pours her heart and soul into every beat and lyric. Her daughter, instead of becoming a barrier between Mone Symone and her dreams, became her biggest inspiration and she strives to be an example for women of all ages to believe in the fact that hard work and determination does indeed pay off.
