Rising California artist theCity’s incredible Hustle is Beginning to Pay off

Upland, California isn’t the first place that comes to mind when one asks about West Coast rap; many people may not have even heard of it at all.  Up and coming rapper theCity is looking to change that by putting not only Upland, but the entire region known as the Inland Empire on the map.  According to theCity himself, there is a lot of overlooked talent in the area, and he and his team are looking to bring people together with new creations from a new location.

He’s upping the level of his new creations with his latest track “RBF” — a collaborative effort with longtime friend and fellow creator Najih.  The song, which deals with past relationships that turned sour, came together rather quickly, as both artists found that they could relate to the lyrical content quite well.

“We were just having a talk about past relationships and situationships where we were just fed up trying to go after a certain female who either didn’t give us the time of day, or we’re just not returning the same energy and effort we put towards them,” said theCity.  “Najih and I…share the same morals and values in things that are important to us.”

The Inland Empire’s hottest artist began his musical journey in 2015, and has improved exponentially in the years that have followed.  Since his first song “Where You From” to 2023’s “RBF,” it’s clear that theCity has been putting in work.

theCity’s work ethic leaves the studio with him; NAJIH, theCity and their team are working on a community outreach program called “The Inland Project” that focuses on showcasing the region’s talent and creativity while bringing people together in a positive setting.  What’s more, he and NAJIH are the driving force behind Feed The Streets, a charity event for the holiday season that puts together lunches and essential supplies for homeless people in the Inland Empire.

Whether he’s in the booth spitting bars or in the streets helping out those in need, you can guarantee that theCity is going to give his all.  And even if you don’t like rap music, you can’t not like those who give back their time and efforts to the community.  theCity is the complete package, and it’s only a matter of time before his determination over the years rewards him with much success.
