What is your name and what city do you rep?

GDM Dre from Hickory N.C

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

I recently drop a single called jump in, the song is shaped around how people could tell you to do something or encourage you to be like others and don’t participate or even remotely do the things they tell you to do!

What is unique about you and your music?

What makes me and my music unique is I only create music to make people smile and for mental health and although I’m not a Christian artist god is the foundation of my music which I believe allows me to spread more love and positivity in a negative place.

What shaped your music?

Looking for a sense of purpose, or another way to help the world change , has really shaped my music…..I don’t really believe in the music we listen to right now it’s all the same words but n different beats, but the same sex, money, murder concept I look to bring music that helps the ones tired of listening to the same nonsense everyday that everyone from your grandma to your 3 year old can sing.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

When I started making music back in February 2022, I only intended to make one song, it wasn’t too long after that when I realized I might be able to do something.

What type of music do you listen to?

As I’ve started making my own music my taste in music has change, I used to listen to the common, younboy, lil baby, lil dark ext….. but there lyrics start to poison your mind after so long, here ive shifted back in time listen to maroon 5, Michael Jackson, even throwing song christian music in the mix with Caleb Gordon.

What inspires you to write music?

i pull inspiration from my growing need to learn, I read the Bible a good bit and ive learned the ones who know what’s right must help lead other down the right path, everyday in life is a consistent battle, and a lot of us feel we fight it alone, my inspiration is the idea of someone hearing my music, and not feeling alone.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

i honestly don’t do much, I work Monday- Friday, I record myself so everyday has to be a step forward, if not recording, im working on a better mix or master, and I try and help lead people to god, on my social medias, as I said before the ones who know should help the ones who don’t or just are scared to speak up.

How has your background and upbringing shaped your artistic vision and sound, and how do you stay true to yourself while navigating the music industry?

My Mom didn’t let me, my brother or my sister listen to rap music until we were fairly old, I haven’t thought to hard on it but I would say pop and gospel had a definite impact on my music, we used to perform for the church so I know, ive had it in me but at the same time music is fun and I love seeing what heights I can take my sound to always willing to try a new type of song or a new concept of song, being and independent artist I haven’t tapped into the industry, but staying true to yourself is always a battle, with whatever you do, i choose stay away from things that don’t make me feel like me.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

I have project called the splatter effect dropping hopefully may 12th with 9 songs on it so be on the look out, its gonna be one to remember and go follow alll my social media’s for features or contact info.
