Philadelphia, PA – Ras King, a 36-year-old rapper, songwriter, composer, and producer, embodies the essence of resilience and authenticity in his music. A proud member of the Black Doge Family (BDF), a crypto investing music group, Ras King draws upon his spiritual practice of Rastafari to craft songs that resonate with truth and life experiences.
From his debut project to his most recent work, Ras King’s music tells a compelling story of survival, perseverance, spirituality, love, and awareness. He emphasizes an overall positive presentation of success arising from what many refer to as “the hood.” “People should read about Ras King because my music is all truth straight out of my life,” he states.
Ras King has had the honor of opening for prominent artists such as Jim Jones, as well as reggae sensations Chronixx, Iba Mahr, and Kabaka Pyramid. He has graced stages at notable events, including the Annual People’s Festival (Bob Marley Festival) in Delaware and the BET Mixer in New York. His work has also been featured in major publications, including HipHop Since 1987 and Chris Brown’s Mechanical Dummy.
Despite facing significant challenges, Ras King remains undeterred. “One of the biggest challenges I faced was getting the people around me to focus on the same goal,” he explains. “Successful endeavors require a united effort, but each individual has their own dreams and aspirations.” Additionally, he acknowledges the struggle of gaining attention in an oversaturated music industry, stating, “I wasn’t going to wear any skirts or diapers to get attention; that’s not music to me.”
Looking to the future, Ras King envisions himself creating and performing music at a grander level, establishing credibility among his musical peers. He aspires to mentor others in need of musical guidance, contribute to financial growth through various business endeavors, and engage in philanthropic efforts. “I love people and believe that common sense, discipline, and a little financial boost go a long way for everyone,” he adds.
Currently, Ras King is promoting his latest album, “Road to Riches,” which was released on January 31, 2025. The album features the rising hit single “My Lil Bih Luv 2 Eat” and a mixtape titled “Fire At Will 2,” set to release in March 2025.
