Pro Boxer Izzadeen Malik El-Amin Returns to Tijuana, Mexico

Professional boxer Izzadeen Malik El-Amin is set to return to Tijuana, Mexico, the city where he began his professional career during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will be fighting there next month in a stay-busy bout as he prepares for a potential title shot in the coming months.

El-Amin emphasized the importance of staying active, stating that inactivity is not what he needs at this stage in his career. While his opponent has yet to be announced, discussions are already underway for his first professional title fight, which could take place in either Egypt or Mexico. “One fight at a time,” he says, remaining focused on the path ahead.

“My time will come,” El-Amin maintains. “I’m still here, regardless of the outside noise.” He believes that after a few more fights, everything will start to change. In previous interviews, he has spoken candidly about the criticism he’s faced, but he refuses to give his detractors too much credit. “They played their part. I’m going to win regardless.”

Though he isn’t calling out any specific names at the moment, El-Amin made it clear he’s on a mission. Currently ranked in the top 30 in the UK, he’s confident that it’s only a matter of time before the boxing world takes notice. “They’re gonna see soon. Just be ready,” he says.

Tijuana holds a special place in El-Amin’s journey. He lived there for three months in 2021 following his pro debut, during the height of the pandemic. Reflecting on the city, he shared, “It’s a nice place with good people. There’s good and bad everywhere, but the media often only shows the bad.”

El-Amin also took a moment to express his thoughts on global issues, particularly the innocent lives being lost due to ongoing conflicts. “To the innocent people dying around the world—the genocide we’re witnessing—I pray it’s resolved. I know I can’t say too much here, but they are surely in a better place. The criminals won’t get away.”
