Charles Williams, professionally known as Pnb Chizz, is an artist whose story carries the weight of perseverance, loyalty, and relentless ambition. Born July 18, 1989 in Voorhees, New Jersey, to Anor Bonds and Charles Williams, his life quickly became rooted in Philadelphia, where the foundation of his character and creative spirit began to form.
At just six months old, Charles moved to Germantown, where he was raised in the home of his grandmother Rosa Bonds on Pastorius Street. A strong and influential woman in the community, Rosa Bonds once ran for state senate and was also involved in the organization known as The Hard Hats, a movement recognized for leading the powerful “Up With Hope, Down With Dope” marches throughout Philadelphia. Her dedication to community upliftment and leadership played a major role in shaping the mindset and values that Pnb Chizz carries today.
Growing up, Rosa raised Charles, his sister, and four cousins, creating a home filled with resilience and responsibility. The household also carried a rich historical connection through Rosa’s marriage to George Bonds-Bay, the son of Lawrence Bonds-Bay, who built the first Morris’s Temple in Philadelphia, a significant spiritual landmark in the city’s history. These deep roots in Philadelphia culture and community would later influence the identity and purpose behind Chizz’s music and business ventures.
As a teenager, Charles returned to Philadelphia during the 11th grade, where he quickly began turning his passion for music into something bigger. He started a music group and business venture that would grow into a major local success. Through their grassroots movement, the team sold thousands of DVDs and merchandise across Philadelphia, showcasing many of the city’s most promising talents and building a reputation throughout the streets and music scene.
Determined to continue his education while chasing his dreams, Pnb Chizz attended Cheyney University, one of the nation’s historic institutions. During this time, he suffered a heartbreaking loss when his beloved grandmother passed away from cancer. Her passing left a tremendous void in the family, but her legacy remained. She left the family home behind, trusting that her grandchildren would continue to protect and preserve what she had built.
Life soon placed even more responsibility on Charles and his family. While navigating adulthood, he relocated to West Philadelphia, living on 57th Street with the mother of his newborn son Kingston. Even with the pressures of family life and financial challenges, Chizz never stopped pursuing music, a passion that had already become part of his identity.
With nothing but determination and belief in his talent, Pnb Chizz traveled to Atlanta, one of the music industry’s biggest hubs, to chase his dream. During that time, he crossed paths with major industry figures, including Young Jeezy, and even had the opportunity to tour alongside him. Chizz knocked on countless label doors across the city, refusing to give up even when opportunities seemed out of reach.
At one point, his dedication pushed him through one of the most difficult chapters of his life. For nearly three weeks, he was homeless in Atlanta, sleeping downtown near buildings while spending every day walking to studios to record and sharpen his craft. Despite the struggle, he kept going. His determination eventually caught the attention of a group called Culture Sol, who welcomed him into their circle.
At Cross Over Studios in Atlanta, a man named Tony saw potential in the determined young artist and gave him a chance. Chizz began performing with the band, doing cover performances and electrifying freestyle sessions at the end of each set, building a reputation as an artist with raw talent and fearless energy. His presence was reminiscent of the classic role artists once played in live hip-hop bands, where improvisation and authenticity ruled the stage.
Eventually, Pnb Chizz returned to Philadelphia, ready to rebuild and elevate his movement. That vision led to the formation of PNB, a name deeply tied to his roots. Originally representing Pastorius and Baynton, the streets where he grew up, the acronym evolved into Platinum and Billboard Entertainment, a company officially formed in 2016 and owned by Charles himself.
Through Platinum and Billboard Entertainment, Pnb Chizz funded and developed artists, investing his own resources to help build careers. One of the most notable figures connected to that movement was PnB Rock, who went on to achieve platinum-selling success and major recognition in the music industry. Although the two experienced disagreements early in their rise, their conflict was rooted in the type of brotherly rivalry that often comes from growing up together in the same environment. Over time, the two resolved their differences and rebuilt their bond.
During one of their reunions, PnB Rock took Chizz on tour, showing appreciation for the role Chizz played during the early stages of the movement. Their relationship grew stronger again both personally and musically. Rock supported Chizz creatively by helping write songs, producing beats, assisting with label connections, and guiding him through the complexities of the music industry. The two shared the understanding that the streets they came from had taken many lives, and they always believed they were meant for a greater purpose.
While continuing to run his label and release music, Pnb Chizz also discovered another passion. During a challenging period in his life, he began working in home renovation with a friend named Ryan Carter. What started as a way to survive quickly became another skill set. Together they worked on multiple homes, and Charles learned everything from sheetrock installation and flooring to window installation and construction management.
His growing knowledge eventually led him to take on projects himself. One of his first major accomplishments came when he rehabbed a home in New Jersey as the project manager, completing tasks such as installing a roof, repairing a deck, painting, building railings, and repairing fencing. This hands-on work revealed another side of the entrepreneur within him.
At the same time, Pnb Chizz continued building his music empire, operating his own distribution and label structure through The Orchard, ensuring his music and artists reached global platforms.
Beyond music and business, family remains the center of his life. Today, Pnb Chizz is a proud father of three children, including his newborn daughter Chuma. Known by many as a family man with a generous heart, he continues to honor the legacy of the family members who helped shape him, including his aunt who once welcomed them into her home in Maryland.
Musically, Pnb Chizz continues to build a catalog that reflects resilience and authenticity. His releases include powerful singles such as “One Way,” “Dreams,” “My Brother’s Keeper,” “Space,” and “Thru the Storm.” Each record captures pieces of his journey, telling stories of loyalty, struggle, survival, and ambition.
