Patrick Beverley Stays With Clippers on 3-Year, $40 Million Deal

The Clippers wanted Patrick Beverley back — he was the heart of the Clippers, the motivator, the guy who didn’t take a night off and didn’t let his teammates either. The Clippers don’t make the playoffs without him and his leadership.

That performance had a number of teams wanting to sign the scrappy point guard (including his hometown Chicago Bulls), but the Los Angeles Clippers stepped up and got the deal done, According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and then confirmed by Beverley himself.

Beverley averaged 7.6 points, five rebounds, 3.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game for the Clippers last season while shooting 40.7% from the field and 39.7% from 3-point range.

The season before that, Beverley’s first with the Clippers, he averaged a career-high 12.2 points per game to go along with 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a career-best 1.7 steals per game while shooting 40% from deep.

Beverley is regarded as one of the NBA’s very best perimeter defenders. Put that with his top-tier shooting ability, and you get an incredibly valuable 3-and-D guard that every team would love to have. That’s Beverley, and the Clippers have to be thrilled to keep him.
