The latest project from prolific creative force Kaetee is an idyllic culmination of the honest, raw feelings, emotions and experiences attached to the transition from Highschool to University – ‘One love – the next phase,’ unfolds a 7 track narrative which encapsulates the angsty teen, coming-of-age atmosphere in a sonic capacity.
The album traverses a dense soundscape flaunting elements of incessantly catchy flows on tracks such as ‘I.G.M.N,‘ and, ‘Everyday,’ and gentler, melodic timbres on the track, ‘Colombiana,’ which boasts a vocal performance sharing distinct elements with Kendrick Lamar. Despite ‘One love – the next phase,’ being such an intricately woven album, the writing process was described by Kaetee as minimal & straightforward taking just one year together – he particularly credits the other artists he collaborated with as well as the producers who aided him in bringing the album to life from the bedroom studios ‘One love – the next phase,’ was originally fabricated in. Hailing from the thriving hub of Nongoma in the culturally enriched South Africa is the remarkably talented young rapper, singer and songwriter Kaetee also known by his original name Thabiso Mbambo. His musical journey, similar to many other artists, was sparked in his childhood and it was at age 13 that he started making his own music in his bedroom studio by Lemia and has poured all of his creative focus into this musical avenue since then.
