I think that moment in culture shaped who I became creatively without me even realizing it.”
The release’s artwork continues building that nostalgic universe, incorporating retro phones, pink bedroom walls, vintage posters, soft sunset tones, and emotionally charged feminine imagery. During the creation of “11:05,” Nicole revisited several of her longtime artistic influences, including Bob Dylan and Prince. “Los Angeles made my inner world feel more colourful,” Nicole says. “Before, my music came from a place of ‘poor me,’ but now it feels more like ‘why me?’ more reflective than reactive. The city opened something creatively in me. I feel connected to it in a strange way, like it unlocked a frequency where songs arrive more naturally.”
Nicole believes listeners are increasingly drawn toward emotional honesty rather than curated perfection, something she intentionally embraces throughout her work.
“Honesty,” Nicole says. “I think people are exhausted by perfection online. Girls want to feel seen in the ugly emotions too obsession, heartbreak, insecurity, longing. The internet used to feel more emotionally honest, and I think people are craving that again.”
Outside of music, Nicole Dash Jones is continuing to expand her creative identity through the launch of DASH Los Angeles, her upcoming beauty line debuting in June with depuff eye patches inspired by sleepless nights, emotional vulnerability, and the visual language of modern girlhood.
