A fire single is mandatory ahead of the release of a project, especially if it’s your debut project. In the case of Mood, he’s got that covered; his latest single “Hush” is part of his elaborate and carefully planned introduction of his artistic self to the world.
An Atlanta native, Mood takes inspiration from fellow Atlanta area creators as well as out of towners.
“All of my inspirations are people who really care about the craft and make their own words last,” he stated. “OutKast, Childish Gambino, Chloe X Halle, Rick James, WILLOW, Tems, Doechii and more.”
When talking about “Hush,” Mood says it is a part of a yet-to-be-released project that will complete his message and introduce him to everyone.
“[I’m] inviting people into it and giving them the option to either stay or leave,” he said. “I never thought I’d say that.”
“I used to beg people to stay and trust that I’ll change [and] trust that this journey is going to get us to the top,” Mood added. “Just trust me…now I really don’t give a [damn] about all of that…To be honest, studying my craft, immersing myself in my art and surrounding myself around a community of people who are safe, brave, daring and accountable is all that I’m worried about.”
On the backend, Mood enlisted MXTRMOM for production and his own sister Jada for engineering; the latter of whom inspired him to give music a shot in the first place. And as for his next moves, he’s got more singles before his debut, which is slated to drop in 2025. He’s also doing his own version of the “Matthew Knowles bootcamp” by intensely studying his craft, writing music and eventually performing.
If there’s one thing Mood has to say about his future plans:
“Just be ready, that’s all I got to say.”
