Man Wears Blackface in Court in Attempt to Get Lighter Sentence

A Hawaiian man named Mark Char was previously convicted of attempted murder and assault after road rage situation resulted in a triple stabbing in 2016.

The man was accused of stabbing the victims after a road rage incident transpired, even though he claims it was self-defense during the trial. One of the victims was reportedly stabbed five times and was in a hospital in critical condition afterward.

The man appeared for his sentencing this past Monday and delivered an odd and racist rant while in blackface, which lasted for almost three minutes. In his speech, Mark Char said “Now this kangaroo court is trying to give me a life sentence for me trying to protect and defend myself against the attack from three guys ― in essence, treating me like a black man.

So today, I’m going to be a black man.” The judge was not pleased with that at all, which resulted in the man being sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
