Beyoncé has released “Spirit,” a new song the Grammy Award-winning singer wrote and produced for the upcoming Lion King remake that she stars in. “Spirit” is set to appear in The Lion King (“in a pivotal scene,” according to a press release) as well as on its companion soundtrack.
The 37-year-old entertainer voices the role of Nala in the upcoming Disney film and she produced and curated the upcoming album “The Lion King: The Gift”.
The new album will feature global artists and is steeped in the sounds of Africa. While “Spirit” is available now, the album will be released on July 19, the same day the movie hits theaters.
Earlier today, it was announced that Beyoncé had curated The Gift, a new compilation of music inspired by The Lion King by a selection of Beyoncé’s favourite African artists. The Gift is set to be released on July 19th. Listen to “Spirit” below.
