Maryland-based violinist and entertainer Leanne “L-Stringz” Holmes is redefining what it means to be a modern-day musician. As the world celebrates Black Music Month this June—a time dedicated to honoring the profound influence of African American artists on global music—L-Stringz stands at the intersection of tradition and innovation, blending the elegance of classical violin with the bold rhythms of Hip-Hop and R&B.
A classically trained violinist, Holmes began her solo career at just 16 years old and quickly set herself apart with a unique artistic vision. Her talent took center stage at Hampton University, where she made history as the only violinist to perform the National Anthem at the Honda Battle of the Bands. Since then, she’s continued to carve out a space for herself in the music industry with a sound that is both genre-defying and deeply rooted in culture.
Now leading her band, “The Gentlemen,” L-Stringz is a vibrant force in the Baltimore and Pennsylvania arts scenes, captivating audiences with every performance. Her resume boasts appearances at some of the nation’s most iconic venues and events, including the Apollo Theater’s 90th anniversary celebration, and collaborations with major organizations such as Def Jam and Rolling Out Magazine.
Her electrifying performances have graced platforms like FOX’s “STAR,” Married to Medicine, the NFL, WNBA, and New York Fashion Week—proving that her violin is not just an instrument, but a voice for expression, empowerment, and evolution.
Beyond the stage, L-Stringz is a passionate advocate for arts education, using her visibility to inspire young musicians and promote creativity in underserved communities. Her mission is to deliver what she calls a “New Music Experience”—a blend of authenticity, flair, and soul that challenges expectations and leaves a lasting impact.
