Brooklyn independent hip hop artist and producer Kota the Friend has officially released his highly anticipated full-length album, No Rap on Sunday, today, Friday, June 27, 2025. The project is now streaming on all major platforms worldwide.
Blending soulful beats with introspective lyricism, the album highlights Kota’s distinct style and features standout collaborations with major artists. Big Sean appears on the track “Michigan,” Fivio Foreign joins him on “Hello,” Liana Bank$ lends her vocals to “Cozy Girls,” and Samara Cyn also contributes to the project. Kota produced the title track himself, as well as much of the album, creating a cohesive body of work that reflects his creative vision.
“No Rap on Sunday is about carving out intentional time to connect in real life, to vibe with other artists, creatives, and fans, not just online,” Kota said. “It’s about creating space for the culture to grow through real conversations, real community, and collaboration.”
The album release marks the beginning of the promotion of Kota’s No Rap on Sunday Tour, a 23-city run across the U.S. and Canada. But this isn’t just another tour: Kota plans to host exclusive pop-up events and unique Meet & Greet experiences designed to bring fans and creatives together in meaningful ways.
“We’re doing this tour differently,” Kota explained. “It’s not just a show; it’s an opportunity for fans and creatives to meet, build, and connect on a deeper level. I want people to walk away having built real relationships and having been inspired by the culture and community we’re creating around this album.”
Kota the Friend has become one of hip hop’s leading independent voices, known for forging direct connections with fans, his genre-blending sound, and his entrepreneurial approach to the industry. No Rap on Sunday is poised to be not only a musical milestone but also the centerpiece of a broader cultural movement.
Fans can stream the new album now and stay tuned for tour dates, pop-up locations, and exclusive experiences on KotaTheFriend.com.
The Official Music Video for the No Rap on Sunday track will be released on Kota’s Official YouTube channel on Monday June 30 at 11am.
