Kirk Beaumont Jr. (born May, 20, 1991) formally known as Kirk B is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, and record executive. Born and mostly raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He founded his own record label FNTS (From Nothin’ to Stuntin’) in 2014 with label mate Billy Joee Brown.
His earliest hit single “Ima Star” reached major success in the South United States region. The song was placed on many major mixtapes and blogs and also caught the attention of many other producers and popular artists.
His most recent single is “Kash Doll” featuring BMF star and music artist, Kash Doll. The record is on the rise across many music charts.
Early Life
Kirk B was born to Jamaican immigrants Kirk Beaumont Sr. and Mauvette Hannah on May, 20, 1991 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was raised by his mother who lived in Nashville and his father who lived in Atlanta, Georgia.
He loved to play baseball as a kid and later found a passion for basketball. He also played for his high school basketball team. He tried out for the basketball team his senior year but didn’t make the cut. This gave him the ammunition to start working on his first passion, music. He released his first mixtape, “Off The Bench vol. 1”, where he later sold over 20,000 hard copies. He then began to work with one of Miami’s rappers, Trick Daddy’s artist who goes by the name of “Ice Billion Berg.” This big collaboration gave Kirk B even more exposure in the music industry.
He spent his freshman year at Hillsboro High School and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia his sophomore year where he attended Campbell High School. He moved to Atlanta to live with his father to avoid negative influences of the streets in Nashville. While living there, he met the founder of D4L records, ShawtyLo, who later put his first hit single “Ima Star” on one of his mixtapes he hosted.
The very next year his mother got a better job in West Palm Beach, Florida where they were able to get the fresh start that they needed. He attended Palm Beach High School where he later graduated.
Music Style
Kirk B saw music as an escape plan from urban inner city influences such as drug dealing and gang violence. He faced many struggles in his early childhood trying to avoid many negative influences in Nashville. He knew that there were better ways to make a living than what his environment displayed.
The most influential people to have success in his city were Young Buck and Starlito. They not only proved that rappers can be successful, but they also proved that you can rise above the crime and explore the passion of music. For example, Young Buck succeeded in the industry and began working with 50 Cent while Starlito remained underground and signed a deal with Cash Money Records. As Kirk B saw artist like these thrive, he wanted the same success for himself.
Personal Life
Kirk B is the oldest sibling of four children. This came with a great deal of responsibility which challenged him to be a leader and set the example for his younger siblings. His mom often looked to him to take care of everyone.
He also became a father at the age of 20. In the midst of starting his rap career, he had to juggle being a full time father while chasing his dreams and providing for his family.
