American singer-songwriter Khalid released his new single “Self” off his forthcoming album Free Spirit on Thursday 28 March 2019.
Produced by Hit-Boy, the introspective song finds the 21-year-old crooner doing some soul searching. “Always had a little trouble with self-reflections,” sings Khalid. “Does my raw emotion make me less of a man?”
He eventually comes to a realization: “I’ve been so used to winning / It was hard for me to lose / No, there’s nothing wrong with me / Must be something wrong with you.”
Khalid’s new album will be available on April 5. So far we’ve heard the Disclosure-produced “Talk” from the record, due April 5, plus “Better” and “My Bad.”
