HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — For many artists, music begins as a hobby. For Hopkinsville rapper, recording artist and songwriter D*mnYerc, it began as a necessity.
Born Percy Anderson and also known as Yerc, the Kentucky artist was raised by his mother alongside three siblings after growing up without a father. As the youngest in the family, he learned early about perseverance, sacrifice and the importance of finding his own direction.
Music became the outlet that allowed him to process those experiences.
D*mnYerc began rapping at 12 years old, spending much of his time writing lyrics and developing his voice. While school did not always hold his attention, songwriting gave him a place to express the emotions, struggles and lessons he did not know how to communicate any other way.

“I never started making music for money,” D*mnYerc said. “I started because it was the only way I knew how to express myself. That’s why I don’t consider myself just a rapper. I feel like my bag is limitless, and everybody will see that soon. If my story can inspire even one person to keep pushing through their struggles, then I’m doing what I was meant to do.”
