Earlier this year, Forbes revealed that Jay-Z is the first rapper to become a billionaire, and now they’ve revealed the top five richest rappers of 2019.
Following behind Jay-Z is Dr. Dre with $800 million, five years after he prematurely declared himself hip-hop’s first billionaire after selling Beats By Dre to Apple for $3 billion. All said and done, Dre walked away with an estimated $500 million in the deal.
In third place is Diddy, who has amassed a $740 million fortune thanks to Ciroc, the driving force of his fortune. Forbes also named Diddy as “the most likely candidate to join JAY-Z in the billion-dollar club.”
Rounding out the list is Kanye in fourth place with $240 million thanks to Yeezy’s partnership with Adidas. Drake, the youngest of the group, is in fifth place with $150 million. According to Forbes, his fortune grew by 50% last year thanks to his Las Vegas residency and his Virginia Black whiskey investment.
