1. How did you come up with the idea for “DO ME”?
Or Barak: “I heard this instrumental before but didn’t pay much attention to it at first. Then, a month later, the beat clicked with me, and everything came out so naturally. It’s all true, exactly how I feel sometimes when a lady plays her magic cards on me. The song came out exactly like I wanted, and I couldn’t be happier.”
MeshMoney: “We really trust each other in the music process. Or Barak knows I’ve got a good ear, and I know the same about him. Whenever an idea pops up, we just freestyle, hum to it, and come up with the right sound and exactly what we want to talk about. Or also told me I enhanced his song in every way, and I’m happy about that.”
2. Or, what made you take a bit of an Afrobeat approach recently? It’s not uncommon for artists to explore different genres, but we’re still curious…
Or Barak: “Well, I just create what I want to hear, what I want to play and dance to, and what I would actually enjoy performing in front of my people. These sounds clicked with me, and I am my own radio station. I create music that I would like to play on repeat—it’s that simple. And of course, for MeshMoney, it was a playground. I’m super proud of what we came up with.”
3. What do you mean by ‘give you the banana’? Is it what we think it is?
Or Barak: “Yes, it is. 😂”
MeshMoney: “Yup. 😁”
4. Or, are you planning on releasing a full EP, project, or album soon?
Or Barak: “Yes! A new album is coming soon. You can make this the official announcement—I’m super excited.”
And how about you, Mesh?
MeshMoney: “Well, I’ll keep it hush for now, but 2024 is definitely a year full of surprises still to come.”
