The future of music is evolving rapidly, and everyone has a chance to carve a piece of the pie in this revolution. Leilani White, it would seem, was predestined to get a sound bite from this pie. Leilani’s inbred musical affinity was evident when she was just a toddler. When other kids were playing with dolls, Leilani would be fiddling with an acoustic guitar. When her peers would spend hours watching a cartoon, Leilani would prefer to fixate on the TV, watching the likes of Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers. Reflecting on how she grew with her group, Leilani said: ”starting out, the idea of living the road band life was the last thing on our minds. After we did all the local gigs, we realized the only way to evolve as a band was to hit the road. Over the next five years, we logged thousands of gigs — with the occasional festival appearance — in cities across the country. Our time on the road proved crucial in shaping our sound”.
It’s pertinent to note once more that Leilani White’s genre is Electronic dance music (EDM). Broken down for the layman, this genre, also known as dance music, club music, or simply dance, is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres made primarily for nightclubs, raves, and festivals. Speaking about what prompted her interest in this genre, Leilani said: ”I grew up watching legends of EDM perform on stage. I saw how they transferred their energy to the crowd. I saw how they brought joy and ecstasy to everyone. I knew this was what I wanted to do. In a world where there’s lots of strife, sorrow, and suffering, I make upbeat sounds and make people feel good and relaxed. This is my personal gift to the world.”
Leilani may be on her way to greatness, but this journey wasn’t smooth sailing for her. Like other artists, she had to contend with some bottlenecks that threatened her progress. One of such was learning the Fruity Loop. Leilani had no prior experience with any Digital Audio Workstation; hence, learning the FL was as difficult as confusing. However, Leilani is such a go-getter that she mastered not only the FL but also the Drum machine, the turntables, the sampler, keyboards, the guitar, the synthesizers, and every other paraphernalia needed in her craft to make good music.
Leilani white is as enterprising as she’s gifted. Her overarching ambition is to turn her dreams into reality and use her craft to help women and men. She’s always looking to expand her craft and explore new frontiers. She has a clothing line named leilani_line on Instagram, a unisex fashion enterprise with a mix of progressive design, classic streetwear, and apparel basics. She also created a soon-to-be-released dating app named Situational Ice Breakers.
And when she’s not in the studio making good music, Leilani loves to spend her free time learning new things and expanding her horizon. ”I love to learn new things; I have a CDL class and a truck driving license. I also love to day trade stock options intermittently,” she said.
Leilani also shows the jovial part of her personality on TikTok for her 1.9 million fans. ”I love spending time on TikTok and putting funny videos together. Currently have 1.9 million followers on my TikTok user name leilani_white_official,” she said. Additionally, Leilani has put her banging body to good use, having modeled in the past for multiple magazines and being a figure skater at the age of 12. She also functioned as a partner in a wedding photography business.
Despite her precocious talent in music, Leilani White takes her education as seriously as her music. She’s almost finished with her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Central Florida. Leilani has a piece of advice for her fans and young people. ”Find something you love and master it. Eventually, someone will pay you well for your hobby, and you won’t work a day in your life as you are doing what you would normally volunteer for. So it won’t feel like work at all”.
