Instagram users will soon be able to report posts they see as “fake news”. As reported by AFP, a tool that will report in a few clicks misinformation, and thus bring the intervention of fact-checkers, will be implemented before the end of August. The publication would be erased if it turns out that it violates the network rules, or failing that, would no longer appear in the search results.
Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri took to Twitter to note the launch and say, “Misinformation is an issue I’ve personally spent a lot of time on. I’m proud that starting today, people can let us know if they see posts on Instagram they believe may be false.”

This option is part of the strategy of the holder of the social network Facebook to limit the spread of fake news on its platforms, as it could have been the case in recent US elections. Instagram plans to roll out the tool to all regions at the end of August following the launch in the United States.
