Hip-hop artist Yawnee Gunna is quickly carving out his place in the hip-hop scene with a combination of work ethic, stage presence, and authenticity. Known for his raw lyricism and Arizona-rooted sound, Yawnee’s music blends trap energy with a West Coast edge and stories from real life told with grit and ambition. With standout singles like “Wolves,” “Mo’Problems,” and “Save Your Soul,” he’s proven himself as one of Arizona’s most promising artists.
This September, Yawnee Gunna made history when he was invited to perform at the 55th Annual Gila County Fair, becoming the first hip-hop artist ever to hit that stage. Originally scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, the performance was postponed due to heavy rain in Globe, Arizona. The show was rescheduled to Friday, September 19, with Yawnee performing just before the night’s headliner, Smash Mouth, at 6 p.m.
Despite last-minute changes, Yawnee delivered a powerful hour-long set featuring 18 songs, a 10-minute intermission for fan photos and autographs, and nonstop energy that kept the crowd moving. The performance also marked the first live debut of his fan-favourite track “Wolves,” which he used to both open and close the show.
Joining him on stage was fellow artist and audio engineer YB DaBagSnatcher, with DJ Fab, a local Globe DJ (Miguel Guerrero), stepping in on short notice to keep the show alive after the original DJ couldn’t make it. Together, they transformed a storm-delayed performance into one of the fair’s most memorable nights.
Yawnee didn’t stop at the stage. He spent the entire weekend at his booth, signing autographs, taking pictures, and selling merchandise, connecting with fans on a personal level and representing his community with pride. Sharing the lineup with Smash Mouth and Hunter Hayes, Yawnee solidified his place as not only a performer but a cultural bridge, bringing hip-hop to a stage that had never hosted it before.
The show marked a defining moment in Yawnee Gunna’s career, proof that his sound, his story, and his grind are resonating far beyond Arizona’s borders. As he continues to rise, one thing is clear: Yawnee Gunna isn’t just making history, he’s rewriting what it means to represent hip-hop in small-town America.
