Q: What’s your artist name and where are you from?
A: I am publicly known as DJ JSO (Jay-so) I am an American producer and DJ. I am from Philadelphia, Pa.
Q: Why do you love music?
A: I have a love for music because it’s always been a part of my life. In some way it was the catalyst for creating a better life for myself. “Music saved me, no cap”.
Q: What makes you different as a music artist?
A: What makes me unlike anyone else is my character. In reality, we are all different and come with that one trait that makes us who we are, you’d have to know me to know exactly what that is like for me.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: In five years, I anticipate myself releasing numerous platinum-selling songs and working on my debut album, which will feature some of the industry’s most talented up-and-coming artists. Amongst other things, but that’s another conversation.
Q: What do you bring to the music world?
A: I’m bringing innovation to the industry, making it okay to have multiple “faucets” in your business. You want people to be able to pour into your business in multiple ways, but more importantly, your business should be able to pour back into its clients the same way.
Q: What do you want to be remembered by?
A: I don’t want to be a fleeting name; I want my work to live on long after I do. My motivation is not blindly seeking attention but earning respect. The goal is notoriety, not fame.
Q: Why do you create?
A: I create for many reasons, but the most notable reason would be because it’s how I provide value to others. Creating is enjoyable for me, and I get to make an impact on the lives of the people participating on my platform and the people watching and listening. I believe we shape the world with our creations.
Q: What do you want to accomplish in life?
A: I have everything I want out of life, at this point, it’s just upgrading, a better environment, better equipment, stuff like that.
Q: What is your most memorable accomplishment to date and why?
A: Over the years I’ve accomplished a lot for myself and the people I’ve worked with so it’s hard to say which is most memorable. It could be my first speaking paid engagement, it could be the first big DJ Gig I did at the Showboat in Atlantic City, it could be the rooftop party I put together for a client in 24 hours or promoting the first song to reach hundreds of thousands of streams, but no I’d have to say I haven’t yet hit the pinnacles I plan to reach.
