First Klass Turns His Pain Into Passion

Jack Russell’s artist name is First Klass who grew up in a home of soul and Hip Hop, where James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross and Gerald Levert were constantly played by his grandmother who raised him. The music had purpose and feeling, and he knew that music is what he wanted to do.

At the age of 13, First Klass started listening to DMX, Styles P, Jadakiss and Jay Z but his favorites were Tupac’s Better Days, Hail Mary and Big L’s Ebonics. When class was sad, he used to write poetry and he learned the power of words at the age of 15.

First Klass entered local talent shows at the YMCA in Harlem as well as poetry contests and his school music is what kept him going. When he hit 23, he knew that music is life, kingdom and the power of delivery and melody can make a person feel what he means. Now he is 35, music has changed but he has adapted well. He likes Kevin Gates,Kendrick Lamar,Joyner Lucas, and Rj Payne. He loves spitters and music that he can relate to.
