Today we spoke with ZAY The Individual an upcoming and versatile artist that makes great music based on HipHop, Alternative, and Experimental Rap.
What inspired you?
“I am inspired by many people and groups that have come before me. I love studying different styles of music even since a young age listening to what my parents and people around me played. The music that effected me most growing up would include Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Wutang Clan, Daft Punk, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Nirvana and others. More new age artists that have affected me have been Denzel Curry, Ski Mask the Slump God, Tyler the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt with the group OFWGKTA, $uicideboy$, Kanye Lil Uzi Vert and many more.”
How are you different from others?
“NOBODY is doing it like me.” Says ZAY. He lives in a Volkswagen Bus from the 1970’s that he has renovated to become a home AND a full recording studio. ZAY will continue making music while on the road, traveling and seeing the world.
What have you accomplished?
“I have worked hard to make my life self efficient so that I may explore the world in my van. I have accomplished building my studio inside and I feel that’s a flex because I will never have to pay an hourly rate for studio time again.”
What challenges have you faced?
“I’d say it’s been challenging to me at times to just keep going, but to quit now when ive made it this far would be stupidity.”
What do you plan to do?
“I plan to have an adventure, traveling and living life as vanlife. I enjoy puting emotion and my thoughts into music and i will continue doing that while also living “off grid” in my 1976 Volkswagen Bus. I plan on touring from Colorado to California.
