Yung Rizzo straight out of the Bay Area, San Jose, California.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
This recent song I dropped is called “Maintain” basically about grinding up from the bottom, got that real hip hop feel to it. I wanted to express a song that had to do with maintaining, because in life, especially with these times, that’s what it’s about.
What is unique about you and your music?
In my music I speak about things that are relevant in my life. I want to motivate those not only on the same journey as me but for those who need some uplifting.
What shaped your music?
Being able to adapt to different genres of music and life experiences is what helped shape my music. I’m a versatile artist that can get on different types of productions.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I was always passionate about making music in general, I started to get radio play and hit different charts which led to going on tour, but I always had a mindset that I wanted to really make a career out of this.
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to a variety of music from different era’s, like music I grew up on, from Tupac to Bone Thugs. All the way up to Fabolous, Jay-Z, but I can’t forget about the H-Town artists like Lil Flip, Lil Keke, Slim Thug took over the scene.
What inspires you to write music?
Real life experiences, whether it’s from back then to now or a family or friend that was going through a situation.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
Spending time and traveling with my family as much as I could. There are also a few businesses that I’m involved in, I ain’t getting any younger so I’m always looking at investments and different entrepreneurial approaches when it comes to things I do outside of music.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
Put your money into quality music and marketing. I noticed a lot of people will spend a whole lot on their music video, but nobody is going to see the video if marketing dollars aren’t put behind it.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I have a crossover song with another genre coming out in May that’s going to be crazy! I’m also working on an EP and my debut album, so there’s a lot of things in the works throughout the year.
