Exclusive Interview: Rising Artist Tony Rhymez

Tony Rhymez Drops New Single "Jet Talk"

What is your name and what city do you rep?

Tony Rhymez out of Victoria Tx

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them

My latest releases are a glimpse into my everyday battles. Battles that I can’t necessarily speak openly on, so I put it in my music to better express myself without limitations. My latest releases are definitely a reflection of my current trials of life and how I’m overcoming them.

What is unique about you and your music?

I’m me. I’m not forcing my image. No one told me to rap, write, talk, act or dress the way I do. My step is genuinely humble and the music we create reflects this. That’s what attracts others to what we’re doing.

What shaped your music?

The struggles of life would be the easy answer but truly it was the small glimpse of what could be that motivated me the most to pursue music… the mystery outcome of possibly achieving success is what helped shape it.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Well I come from a musically inclined family [tejano music though, my tios were The well known Bandalero Band] so I feel it was written in my story from the jump. When people that didn’t know me started showing support and genuine love it hit me, this is your road to run so I hit the dash.

What type of music do you listen to?

Of course I jam the hiphop community, the homies or anyone cultivating music but oddly for personal preference I honestly jam 90s alternative rock that’s my safe place. I grew up on tejano rock and some country. I discovered  hiphop on summer night in 98 and it was on from there.

What inspires you to write music?

My life, my daily trials, my people, as things  happens around me I take it and put it in my music. That’s why I don’t get writers block, can’t happen when all you write about is life because life just keeps going it’s a never ending story that needs telling.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

If I’m not working on music [which is rare I’m always writing thinking or brainstorming] I’m spending time with my family my lady and our two boys. They’re my reason for pushing my reason for breathing so if anyone or anything can pull me from music it’s them.

Happiness to you is…

Seeing my lady and kids live life without the unnecessary stress, without the uncertainty.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Keep God first, he’ll guide your every step you just gotta pray and put the work in.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

They really just need to tune in [youtube or any digital platform] we’re always working always dropping. We have my first ft with a major artist coming up and we’re definitely excited to see the outcome of that power move. Aside of that we do have singles dropping every 8th of the month. At our current level consistency and relevancy is super important so that’s our focus sight now.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

The music videos are on YouTube and all drops are available on all digital platforms just search Tony Rhymez.

Any last words for the readers?

If you take anything from my personal journey let it be that when you truly pursue your passion you’ll lose friends maybe some family and you will gain enemies BUT after that comes the fans and that little taste of what could be will be all the motivation you need just see it through. So don’t you stop! Don’t you quit! You keep praying and keep pushing! God will see you through it just gave faith.
