Exclusive Interview: Rising Artist JayWin

What is your name and what city do you rep?

JayWin reppin’ Raleigh, North Carolina

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

My latest release is “The Missing Peace 4” it’s apart of my Missing Peace series I drop every Valentine’s day for my toxic love audience, that can relate to the heartache and just love in general, good or bad.

What is unique about you and your music?

I feel my voice is one of a kind and I feel that my music is definitely a new sound. My music is very versatile so I feel I fit all audiences.

What shaped your music?

I believe finding my sound and all the accolades I’ve acquired overtime really shaped me into the artist I am today.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

When I finally moved to North Carolina, I dropped out of college and wanted to learn the business side of music.

What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to a lot of Hip Hop, R&B and Dancehall/Reggae.

What inspires you to write music?

A lot of times I’m inspired by the moments in my life, what’s going on right now around me as in mood, relationships, how my career is doing so far, etc…

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I’m in the gym heavily, I love working out, Love staying active playing basketball, sometimes I’m out and about partying in the city just getting the love from fans and friends.

Happiness to you is…

Everyone around me is financially comfortable.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Start off making original songs, skip dong freestyles on industry beats, invest in your career early.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

This summer I have my biggest hit dropping in July. It’s my first feature ever with a female singer. The elegance of this track is just different and to me hands down it’s my favorite and might be my best song yet, so I’ll definitely suggest looking out for that.
