1. WHEN DID THE IDEA TO BE AN ARTIST BEGIN?
- it all started back when I was a kid I’ve always loved music, even as a toddler I would get up dancing and singing to the music on the tv that was playing. When I was in 6th grade I had a talent show and I performed a song called “happy” by Pharrell Williams after that talent show I always told myself I would be a musical artist and I started working on my first project in middle school.
2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PROJECT YOU’VE WORKED ON TO DATE?
- My favorite project would have to be “permanent scar” this project was the first one that had done outstanding numbers and was the first song I shot a music video to.
3. CAN YOU ROUGHLY OUTLINE YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS – FROM THE BEGINNING OF AN IDEA FOR A PROJECT OR A COLLABORATION TO THE POINT OF COMPLETION?
- When it comes to writing music I feel as if it comes to me really easy because I express a lot of my emotions and pain in writing songs so when I find a beat that I think sounds good the words just come straight out of my mouth onto the note pad and I continue to write and then I put everything together and make it a song. I usually try to write at least 3-4 songs before I head over to the studio.
4. HOW IS THE REALITY OF BEING AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST COMPARED TO YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF IT?
- As being an independent artist I feel like it’s kind of harder to get your music seen and heard because in my town people hate to see you winning so there’s a lot of pressure on you because at times you feel as if people aren’t listening to your music and trying to support you so you have to keep pushing and pushing to get seen and get people to become a fan of your music. When I first started I thought it was gone be easy, people would support me because I had a lot of friends and family but when I got good at what I did then people stopped supporting me because the hate and JEALOUS played a role on them.
5. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES AND DIFFICULTIES YOU FACE WHEN STARTING NEW PROJECTS?
- My biggest challenge would have to be finding the right beat if the beat isn’t matching my energy and mood then I can not write to it therefore it makes it harder to write music and complete songs.
6. WHAT DO YOU DO TO STAY CALM WHEN A PROJECT IS NOT GOING AS PLANNED?
- I try to take a break from the beat if I’m having trouble writing I also might switch things up I don’t like being stuck on beats so if I don’t have much writing on the pad I will go to something different and start a new vibe.
7. DO YOU HAVE ANY INSIGHTS, TIPS, OR ADVICE FOR SOMEONE STARTING LOOKING TO START THEIR MUSIC CAREER AND LOOKING TO GET INTO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?
- My number 1 tip would be to make sure you are ready for the negative that comes with making music you will have people that talk bad about you to try to damage your image as a person and also speak the truth in your music don’t just record music that’s rap cap because it will come back to bite you in the a** . Another big role as an independent artist is to invest in yourself and pay for promotion, ads, features, etc. It will better your career and show your seriousness!
8. WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR CAREER SO FAR?
- I’m most proud of how far I have come I wanted to quit so many times but I also told myself that this is what I want to do this is what my future will base around. And I never gave up on my dreams now I have a fan base people love my music and I’m continuing to get better with time.
9. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING?
- I try to think of ways I could improve my craft and how to get labels and A&Rs to see how talented I really am. I constantly think of new ways to try to put more people into my music and become a fan!
